Business Gateway Team

Business Gateway offers information, advice and guidance across the whole of Scotland to people thinking about starting up in business or growing their existing businesses. The Business Gateway National Unit is located within COSLA and provides national functions to support the delivery of services at a local level.

Main policy areas

Marketing – management of national and local marketing campaigns aimed at raising awareness of Business Gateway and driving potential customers to the Business Gateway web site, Enquiry Service and local workshops and events
Quality Assurance – measuring customer satisfaction across all areas of Business Gateway service delivery and using this information to drive service improvement

Performance Reporting – reporting quarterly to a range of stakeholders on the performance of the Business Gateway against agreed output targets

Team Functions

The Business Gateway is managed locally by Scottish Local Authorities and acts as the doorway to other publicly funded services provided by Local Authorities and their partners.

The main Business Gateway service is provided through a combination of online support from the Business Gateway website, a programme of business skills workshops and events delivered in local areas, and access to business information from our dedicated team in the Business Gateway Enquiry Service. An additional service, in the form of one to one support from an experienced business adviser is also available to those businesses with the potential to grow.

The Business Gateway portal provides practical information and advice for new and growing businesses, including access to interactve tools, business directories and newsletter updates.
