COSLA RESPONSE ON RCOT WARNING ON SCOTTISH HEALTH AND CARE

Councillor Peter Johnston COSLA’s Health and Social Work Spokesperson said: “We would absolutely agree with the Royal College of Occupational Therapy’s assessment that something has to be done to prepare the social care system for the future. Recent reductions in public funding, coupled with increasing demand for more complex care as more people live for longer, mean the truth of the matter is that without significant additional investment our system will not be sustainable.

"We will continue to discuss with Scottish Government how this can be achieved within the context of future spending reviews and investment in local government.”
