COSLA comment on unpaid school meals

A COSLA spokesperson said: "Scottish Local Authorities are at the forefront of addressing the impact of poverty on our children and their families. There is a wide body of evidence that shows that hunger can adversely impact upon a child’s ability to learn, grow and develop and this is our focus in this area.

"The COSLA CYP Board is considering how to support children and families by further extending school meal provision into holiday periods. Rather than distrust our families or put barriers in their way, we are focused on ensuring that we provide real, practical support and continue to improve the poverty related attainment gap."
