COSLA comment on women and leadership roles in education

A COSLA Spokesperson said: "Councils are equal opportunities employers who are committed to creating a workplace environment that supports both women and men to fulfil their career aspirations.

"Some 56% of Directors of Education are women, and within schools extensive family-friendly policies, regular equal pay audits and gender pay gap analyses continue to help Councils address any barriers to women progressing to promoted posts."
