Christmas message from the COSLA President

"At COSLA we have been working to show that Scotland remains a welcoming and outward looking country. We will continue this work in 2019.

"Across Scotland, many essential council services are delivered by staff who have moved across Europe to make their homes here.

"I want to pay tribute to the work of all the valued local government workforce  who deliver essential services throughout the year and will continue to do so over the festive period and into 2019.

"And I also thank our elected members for the huge contribution they make in serving our communities.

"In terms of our work next year a priority will be to work with Scottish Government and the Political Parties at Holyrood to make the draft budget more supportive of our essential services. It is vital that we get a fair funding deal.

"On behalf of the team at COSLA can I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year."
