Social Care Workforce Research

Part 2 of the National Health and Social Care Workforce Plan (2017) sets out the need to develop collective understanding and to study the national and local labour markets for social care.

The four linked reports below (published on 11 March 2020) respond to a specific recommendation ‘To develop our understanding and provide evidence of the interactions between the national and local labour market pressures, the interactions between different parts of the sector and the specific challenges presented by the configuration and location of the current social care workforce.’

Scottish Government, COSLA and partners will use the findings to inform policy, projects and other work to support a sustainable social care workforce.
