SOCITM's Scottish Conference will take place on 18 September at Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh, locating it once again at the heart of decision-making for Scotland.

Despite much innovation, effort and the widespread use by citizens of smartphones, tablets and apps, we still have much to do to maximise the take-up of digital public services, delivering instant benefit to citizens at reduced cost.  Digital exclusion exerts negative impact on the economy and the pace of public service modernisation.

Scottish public and third sector ICT managers and staff have a key role to play in ensuring that Scotland exploits its digital strengths to take full advantage of the economic, social and environmental opportunities offered by the digital age.

What are the practical steps needed to turn these big ideas into reality? Join us to discuss the issues and learn how to successfully embrace the digital age, deliver even better services and amaze and delight your citizens!

We will be examining topics such as Glasgow's 'smart city' project and its creative harnessing of public/private sector expertise, best practice for council websites, digital skills (both within our organisations and for citizens) and how digital strategy is translating into delivery on the ground.

Success does not come easily and the many challenges that need to be overcome on the way will be explored through case studies and best practice examples.  One size certainly does not fit all, but while every organisation has its own approach to the design and delivery of digital services, not every project needs to start from a blank sheet.  Information sharing and teamwork by expert public, third and private sector ICT professionals can only make a positive difference, so come and learn from your colleagues through our stimulating combination of plenary sessions and interactive workshops.
