COSLA comment on proposed local government boundary changes in Scotland

A COSLA Spokesperson said: "Whenever the number of councils is looked at it is interesting that the perceived wisdom is always less never more.

"This study is the opposite to what we hear from communities in Scotland every day.

"Local government is a legitimate sphere of government in Scotland and as such wants the powers and  the financial levers to respond to the specific needs in their communities. They do not need an arbitrary increase in size and a reduction in influence."
