Scotland’s Councils responded quickly to develop and administer the Self-Isolation Support Grant after being asked by the Scottish Government to deliver assistance to low-income households asked to self-isolate.
Since its introduction in September 2020, Councils have worked closely with the Scottish Government to amend and extend the grant to more households facing financial hardship due to self-isolation.
This has ensured that people do not have to choose between staying home and supporting themselves and their families.
COSLA welcomes the announcement to expand the grant today (Tuesday), and will continue to work in partnership with the Scottish Government to develop and roll out these changes in the coming weeks.
Commenting on the changes COSLA spokesperson Cllr Parry said: “Support to low income households through the grant will allow people to follow public health guidance and keep their families and communities safe. We welcome the expansion today to offer support to assist low income households including those who don’t qualify for statutory sick pay and carers.”
