COSLA President, Councillor Alison Evison, has marked Mental Health Awareness Week (May 10 – May 16).

She said: “Today (Monday) marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness week. The last year has brought the mental health and wellbeing of everyone in our communities into sharp focus.

“Providing appropriate support for those who need it has been, and continues to be of  vital importance  to Local Government.

“During the pandemic, we have also found new ways to manage our own mental health, with many of us turning to nature, valuing walking and exercise, finding green spaces and delighting in watching plants grow.

“I’m lucky to live in a coastal community, where the greens, reds and yellows of the hills combine with the many blues of the sea to refresh and refocus. The natural environment is such an important support to our well-being.”
