The Scottish Government has announced today (Thursday 2nd March) that current plans for a National Care Service in Scotland will be paused for the time being.

COSLA Health and Social Care Spokesperson, Councillor Paul Kelly, commented following the announcement:

“COSLA welcomes the Scottish Government’s decision to delay the National Care Service legislative process.

We welcome the opportunity to use this time for a meaningful and detailed discussion with Local Government and other partners to make sure that we get the much needed reform of social care right.”
