It’s Scottish Learning Disability Week
COSLA's Health and Social Care Spokesperson, Councillor Paul Kelly, has commented on Scottish Learning Disability week.
Councillor Kelly said:
"I am delighted to highlight that this week (6th – 10th May) is Scottish Learning Disability week.
"This year’s theme is Digital Transformation. Digital technology is continually developing and its use increasing, more recently the pandemic changed the way we connect and participate in many ways. Ensuring digital inclusion is a reality for everyone is important and this year’s theme is timely and helpful for highlighting this.
"SCLD (Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities) highlight that digital technology presents opportunities for people with learning disabilities, but also note that life online can present risks and danger, just like real life.
"Through Scottish Learning Disability week SCLD are looking to have conversations about the risks of life online and share information about how we can all stay safe while making the most of what the digital world has to offer."
