COSLA today (Thursday) met with the SJC Trade Unions in relation to this year’s pay offer for the Scottish Local Government Workforce.

Commenting following the meeting, COSLA Resources Spokesperson Councillor Katie Hagmann said:  “We had a positive meeting today with our SJC Trade Union colleagues in relation to this year’s pay offer for the Local Government workforce.

“We stressed once again to our union colleagues the difficult financial context we are operating within, given the flat cash settlement from Scottish Government for Local Government. The commitment to joint lobbying of Scottish Government for improved funding for Local Government remains.

“Whilst no resolution was achieved today, we are keen to learn from the experiences and delays of previous years so both sides gave a commitment to give today’s discussions further consideration and to meet again as quickly as possible, ideally next week.”
