On Thursday 12th September, Scotland's teachers accepted the latest 2024/25 pay offer from COSLA following a meeting of the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers (SNCT) Extended Joint Chairs.

COSLA Resources Spokesperson, Councillor Katie Hagmann, said:

“I am delighted that at today's meeting of the SNCT Extended Joint Chairs, all Teachers’ Panel unions formally confirmed that their members have chosen to accept this year's strong pay offer.

“COSLA listened carefully to the Teachers' Panel and made a credible offer intended to meet all our trade union partners' requests.  The pay agreement of 4.27% is effective from 1 August 2024 and covers the period to 31 July 2025.

“Councils have been notified of the acceptance of this year’s offer.

“It has been a challenging year for pay negotiations, given the current financial challenges facing the public sector. I am delighted that this offer, which is within the pay envelope mandated by leaders for all our local government bargaining groups, and fully utilises the funding local authorities have at their disposal with additional funding from Scottish Government, has been accepted overwhelmingly by Scotland's teachers.

“This pay award reflects the high value Scotland's council leaders place on our teaching workforce, and the vital contribution of teachers in educating and supporting our children and young people." [END]
