Scotland's Councils are invited to submit their top projects and teams for COSLA Awards

Announcing that the 2024 awards are now open for applications COSLA President, Councillor Shona Morrison said:

“As COSLA President I am delighted to announce that COSLA’s 2024 Excellence Awards are now open for applications.

Councils are made up of truly exceptional people who deliver vital services every day, which serve the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. The people who make up our Councils are often ‘unsung heroes’ in our communities, and that’s why I’m so pleased we can take this opportunity to honour their achievements, and the impact of the hard work of local authorities, with our awards.

This year, I’m really keen to see as many entries as possible from Councils across Scotland. If your council doesn’t usually submit, please take the chance this year – our staff are ready and waiting to hear from you and guide you through the application process. We are hopeful that some of our finalist and winning projects can be part of a campaign to help showcase the incredible transformation and innovation Councils are undertaking, and how they are constantly adapting to changing need - so this is the perfect forum to showcase the brilliant individuals and teams who make positive change a reality in your area.

This year, entries will be judged in 5 categories:

  • Category 1: Service Innovation and Improvement
  • Category 2:  Achieving Better Outcomes for the Most Vulnerable in Partnership
  • Category 3:  Tackling Inequalities and Improving Health and Wellbeing
  • Category 4:  Strengthening Communities and Local Democracy
  • Category 5: Just Transition to a Net Zero Econ

I always feel inspired hearing about the great work councils do, and I’m very much looking forward to hearing about many more wonderful projects and teams at this year’s Excellence Award – I hope you will consider putting in an application, so we can share the important work you do.”
