Wednesday 16th July marks one year since the UNCRC was incorporated into Scots law.
Welcoming the milestone, COSLA's Children and Young People Spokesperson, Councillor Tony Buchanan, said:
“I would like to take the opportunity today to celebrate the anniversary of the incorporation of the United Nations Convention Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into law in Scotland. Since reaching this milestone last year, Councils are placing even more focus on putting children’s rights at the centre our work.
“I would like to thank the Local Government workforce who are committed to ensuring that children’s rights arefully realised and meaningfully protected.
“Councils hold a shared vision of a Scotland where children’s human rights are embedded in all aspects of our society and public services.”
