EIS has launched an education resource to challenge misogyny in the classroom.  In a short comment COSLA welcomed the move to address misogyny in schools.

A COSLA spokesperson said:

“Addressing misogyny in our schools must begin by providing children and young people with the tools to understand and navigate these issues in an age‑appropriate manner. Schools play a vital role in enabling young people to learn to engage in constructive debate, be respectful, gain confidence, and feel empowered to challenge discrimination.

“COSLA recently took part in the 16 Days of Action Against Gender‑Based Violence campaign and tackling gender‑based violence remains a key priority in our 2026 Local Government Manifesto. Planning is already underway for a COSLA Boards Roundtable early next year to address challenges and identify practical solutions that may lie within the gift of local government to progress, despite the challenging fiscal environment.

“Addressing misogyny requires action across society as a whole, but schools are a crucial part of the solution - because prevention must always be the first step.”
