"The last week has brought extremely challenging winter conditions across many parts of the country, causing significant disruption for communities and services.

"We know this has been a difficult time for residents and we want to thank people for their patience and understanding as the relevant teams respond to these conditions.

"We want to take this opportunity to recognise and thank winter teams across affected councils who have been working long hours, often in very difficult and hazardous conditions to keep people safe and maintain essential services.

"We also want to thank all staff who’ve been maintaining and striving to minimise disruption to vital services."
