Migration and Population Team

The Migration and Population Team has responsibility for policy issues relating to migration in all its forms, population and demographic change. The team also leads on work to improve outcomes for Gypsy/Travellers.

Spokesperson

The MP Team’s remit is, in the main, covered by the Community Wellbeing Board Spokesperson. The Community Wellbeing Spokesperson is Councillor Maureen Chalmers.

  • Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC)
  • Humanitarian protection schemes (e.g. UKRS and Afghan Resettlement Programme)
  • Schemes for people from Ukraine
  • Support for Hong Kong British National (Oversees) visa holders
  • New Scots Refugee Integration Strategy
  • Migrant destitution and no recourse to public funds (NRPF) policy
  • Addressing demographic change and Scotland’s population challenges
  • Improving outcomes for Gypsy/Travellers
