Councillor Graham Houston is the Vice-President of the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities.
Graham has worked in public, private and not-for-profit sectors and was Director of the Work Foundation Scotland, formally the Industrial Society, prior to setting up his own consultancy. Graham was a member of the Scottish Police Authority board since it was formed in 2012 and has experience of the governance arrangements for policing pre- reform having been the Vice Convener of the Central Scotland Joint Police Board between 2007 and 2012. His term of appointment ended in 2018.
Graham’s board roles in the past have included being Chairman of the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), Vice Chairman of the BBC’s Broadcasting Council for Scotland, Chairman of the Scottish and UK judging panels for the National Training Awards and a member of the Stirling Enterprise Board. He is currently a Board Member of Stirling Business Centre Limited and a Board Member of Stirling and Clackmannanshire Integrated Joint Board. He is also a member of the adjunct faculty at Strathclyde University Business School.
Graham was the Leader of Stirling Council from May 2008 until 2012. Graham was re-elected as a Councillor in the May 2017 council election and elected as the Vice President of COSLA in June 2017.
